If your device is unable to scan fingerprints, try the following steps:
Power Cycle the Device
Perform a power cycle on the device by disconnecting it from power for 10-15 seconds and then reconnecting it. This straightforward reboot should address most problems.
Register a Different Finger
It is advisable to register multiple fingerprints. This precautionary measure can prove beneficial if one fingerprint becomes damaged or is not recognized by the device, as having an alternative fingerprint can ensure uninterrupted clocking in and out for your employees.
Adjust The Sensitivity
Follow the steps below to raise sensitivity
1. Press the 'M/OK' button and select 'System' > 'System/Fingerprint'
2. Select the 'Fingerprint/FP Sensor Sensitivity' field and change from low to high
Raise the Threshold
Occasionally, certain employees might share similar identification characteristics, leading to the device misidentifying them. To address this concern, you can modify the device's settings to scan additional identification points on the finger, thereby minimizing the risk of incorrect employee registration.
1. Access the device menu by pressing the 'M/OK'
button and select 'System' > 'System/Fingerprint'
2. Raise the 1:1 Match Threshold to 35
3. Power cycle the device by unplugging it from power for 10-15 seconds and plugging it back in
- The
default value of Medium is recommended
- Set
the value to High when the response to finger scan lags in a dry
environment
- Set
the value to Low when the fingerprint is difficult to identify in a humid
environment
Additional Tips
1. Verify that the sensor is not scratched or damaged, and your fingers are clean and dry
2. Remove the screen protector to improve fingerprint sensitivity
3. Clean the reader with a microfiber cloth to remove residue and oil
4. The device may not recognize fingerprints from small or thin fingers
5. The device may not recognize fingerprints that are affected by scars or bruises
6. Cover the entire fingerprint recognition sensor with your finger and firmly press down
7. When enrolling a fingerprint use more than one position. Shift the finger slightly to the left and slightly to the right during each scan
If all else fails, users can always clock in/out using their employee number and device PIN code
